El Lago Texas (77586) (“The Lake”) is a small 1 square-mile mile, 3,600 resident community on the west bank of Taylor Lake to the northern shore of Clear Lake that was developed in the 1950s and Incorporated in 1964. It was the former home of Jean Lafitte’s pirates but now is the home of several NASA astronauts. Its proximity to the Johnson Space Center contributed to its rapid growth in 1961.
